Huntingdon Rugby Club (Minis)
Letter From Your Chairman

 September 2006

Welcome to Huntingdon & District Mini Rugby Club’s 8th Year.

Welcome to a new season of mini rugby at Huntingdon Rugby Club. This season will see the club take more steps to ensure a consistent balance of fun and high quality rugby. On the back of last seasons success in the under 6’s we will continue this age group and with the help of keen Dad’s, I am sure we will grow the numbers even more. We will also see an under 12’s squad which due to lack of members we have not had for two seasons.

I am pleased to say that the coaching team goes from strength to strength, with each age group now having three dedicated coach’s, of which will now be more easily recognisable with their Coach training tops on. We are also introducing a social organiser (John Doonan) who will help to ensure that we get to enjoy a drink or two with the parents! I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Patrick Goldsworthy whom after 7 years of coaching and co-ordinating the coach’s has decided to pass the helm over to Steven Moss, many thanks to them both.

We have updated this welcome pack, which will provide you with contact details for your child’s age group lead coaches and names of all coach’s, our commitments on child security, a registration form, and details on how to purchase kit along with the RFU’s code of conduct for players, coaches and spectators!  There is also a Q&A section where we address the most commonly asked questions. Please take the time to have a read through and do not hesitate to ask to speak to me, your lead coach or Steven Moss about any questions or concerns.

I would also like to bring to your attention the large number of match reports which go in three local papers and on our web site www.stagsminis.co.uk on a weekly basis. Please make sure that every player looks at these reports on a Tuesday after every game, if you do not see one drop me an email!

Last season it was hard for the parents not knowing if there will be a cup of hot tea or a cool pint of beer, and if you would get roped into tuck shop duties or even cooking in the kitchen! I can assure you that these problems have been resolved, Hinchingbrooke School will provide full bar service, hot food and snacks and no one will have to get in the kitchen. I thank all the parents who mucked in and helped the club through a difficult transition.

I know this season is going to produce great results for the players and great satisfaction to the ever keen parents watching. The club is only as good as the kids turning up week after week, we are always looking to increase our numbers so please tell a friend how great rugby is, if not tell me why it is not.

See you at the club.
