Huntington RUFC Under 7s

Our
aims for the under 7s:
First and foremost, our aims for the year are for all the children
to have fun, meet new friends and learn all about the great game of
rugby. We ask parents to come and watch the training and go to the
games because the boys and girls love when their parents and family
are on the side line cheering them on. After the games, we encourage
the children and parents to stay on for something to eat and drink,
which we hope will help develop friendships already started on the
rugby field.
Rules for under 7s tag rugby:
Games are usually 7 per side, and last for 7 minutes with the
emphasis on this being tag rugby and non-contact. Tackles are made
by pulling the tag from the belt of the ball carrier. Once tackled,
the player must immediately stop and pass the ball to a team member
standing behind him. There are no scrummages or line outs at this
age group, with the penalty for any offence being a free pass to the
non-offending side. Note U7's play unlimited Tags. Our aim to
develop our players’ basic skills, to introduce the conception of
passing backwards, offside, and, of course scoring tries!
Season dates and timing:
-
Our season runs from Registration day on Sunday 2nd September
2007 to 27th April 2008.
-
Christmas break Sunday 23rd December 2007 - Returning 6th
January 2008.
-
Training sessions last from 10.30am to 12noon. On Match days, we
aim to start around 10am – to give the players a chance to get
warmed up and prepared. Full details of our fixture list can be
found elsewhere on the website.
Fees:
Club fees
are £60.00 for one child and £30.00 per child thereafter.
New players to the club are given two weeks exemption to see if the
boy or girl like the sport. Cheques to be paid to HRUFC.
Coaches:
The
under 7s will have a minimum of two coaches per session, who will be
attending various courses during the year. Please remember the
coaches are parents themselves and give their time up freely to
coach rugby.
Should you want to get involved with the coaching yourself, please
see Ian Harbour who is the Youth Coordinator at the club or ask one
of the coaches on the day.

Club Kit
Club kit will be available at the club house or via the website.
Boots, whilst there is much debate over blades or studs, we would
recommend all parents fit “Kite Marked” studs and check their
child’s boots regularly for sharp edges build up by running on
tarmaced surfaces.
Player of the week
Every week, the coaches award a trophy to the player who displays
the best attitude towards the “Spirit of the Game”.
